Become a DD Ambassador!
Overview
Diversify Dietetics is currently recruiting pilot Ambassadors from the Atlanta, New York, and Ontario regions. Ambassadors are individuals who represent Diversify Dietetics in their local area. They are charged with growing and supporting their local Diversify Dietetics community by creating and engaging in activities that meet their DD community’s needs and are consistent with the mission, vision, and values of the Diversify Dietetics.
Community - defined as the students, interns, educators, and professionals that are dedicated to increasing the racial and ethnic diversity in the field of nutrition & dietetics
Diversify Dietetics Ambassadors are responsible for:
Supporting the mission of Diversify Dietetics; to increase the racial and ethnic diversity in the field of nutrition by empowering nutrition leaders of color
Develop, at minimum, three events for their local DD community* (inclusive of students, interns, professionals, and educators). These events should fall into one of four approved categories; professional/career development, pipeline development, leadership development, or DD community building.
Identifying and implementing strategies that support the strategic development and growth of the local community
Leading the development of the regional chapter’s goals and corresponding action plan for those goals.
obtaining approval for action plan by advisory committee member
Identifying the needs, trends, demographics, opportunities, and gaps within their local community
Developing a system and data collection process to assess the baseline and ongoing strengths and needs of the group.
Engaging and organizing volunteers to assist in the implementation of goals.
Being familiar with and speaking in support of Diversify Dietetics
Attending a majority of regional community meetings
Submitting at least one abstract to a conference of the local community’s choosing.
Organizing and advertising yearly elections for DD Ambassador roles
*In response to COVID-19, events should be virtual until further notice. Given the virtual nature of events, ambassadors are welcome to extend event invitations outside of their local community.

DD Ambassador Support:
Mandatory training for all DD Ambassadors will take place at the beginning of each program year
Diversify Dietetics Ambassadors will be supported by a member of the Diversify Dietetics Advisory Group. Ambassador chairs will meet quarterly with the Advisory Group Member and have access to them via email.
Each region will have sub-positions that require a one year commitment. Ambassadors must be living or working in the region they represent. The sub positions are as follows:
Chair - facilitate regularly scheduled meetings, lead strategic development of the Regional Chapter including developing yearly goals for local chapter that align with Diversify Dietetics mission, vision and goals
Co-chair - supports the chair position and will assume the chair position the following year
Communications Chair - responsible for keeping records of all chapter actions, including overseeing the taking of minutes at all meetings, sending out meeting announcements, distributing copies of minutes and the agenda to all members, and assuring that chapter records are maintained and managing and submitting budget requests to support the work of the chapter.
DD Ambassadors will be connected to a network of other ambassadors, similarly working to increase the racial and ethnic diversity in the field and provide support for BIPOC students, interns and professionals within their local area.
Time Commitment
Ambassadors will serve a one-year term (August - July)
Year one Ambassadors, February- July
Approximately 5-10 hours per month
Ambassador chairs must maintain communication with DD Advisory Committee members through quarterly meetings and email correspondence. This includes but is not limited to notification of any issues of concern, budget request, use of logo, guidance around fulfilling duties of the role
