Produce Prescription and Diabetes Programs Extension Associate
NC State University is currently hiring an EHRA (1.0 FTE) Extension Associate in the Department of Agricultural and Human Sciences at NC State University to lead two community-focused projects. The incumbent will provide organization and programmatic oversight for the project occurring in ten counties (Bertie, Columbus, Halifax, Hertford, Jones, Lenoir, Northampton, Robeson, Warren, and Washington). Duties will include overseeing nutrition access programming (a produce prescription program and fruit and vegetable voucher incentive program) in ten counties (previously mentioned, and diabetes education and support programming in four counties (Bertie, Halifax, Hertford, and Northampton). The incumbent will also lead the communication efforts with project participants and stakeholders. The incumbent must be organized and dependable and possess excellent communication skills. This position will be located in Raleigh.
Essential job duties may include, but are not limited to:
Oversee NCSU’s produce prescription and fruit and vegetable (FV) voucher incentive programs which include, but are not limited to:
Expand the produce prescription and FV voucher incentive program to ten NC counties, while maintaining timely communication with the Principal Investigators (PIs), food hubs, clinical partners, FCS Agents, and other community stakeholders on all activities.
Coordinate food procurement and delivery with regional food banks/hubs.
Identify, train, and collaborate with clinical partners in each county, along with assistance from the Plants for Human Health Translational Nutrition Manager.
Manage, track, and report participant referrals, produce box delivery, and FV voucher delivery.
Collect and report participant feedback through various means (survey, text, focus groups).
Manage the expenditures related to the produce prescription and FV voucher incentive programs and advise the PIs on expenditures.
Provide oversight to the Nutrition Access Program Assistant, graduate students, and undergraduate students employed by the project, including but not limited to scheduling, delegating roles, and providing evaluation.
Organize and maintain the team’s calendar and Project Management system for the produce prescription and FV voucher incentive program, including effective use of the system to track project progress, contacts, and resources.
Coordinate public messaging strategies and the publication process related to nutrition access outcomes with the High Obesity Program Coordinator.
Lead the produce prescription and FV voucher program meetings and maintaining detailed notes and record keeping.
Support all Institutional Review Board approvals through NC State University as needed.
Assist in the writing and revising of manuscripts for a professional presentation at the regional, national, and international levels in accordance with producing prescription and FV voucher incentive grant activities.
Oversee NCSU’s Health Extension for Diabetes (HED) program, which includes but is not limited to:
Expand the HED program to four NC counties, while maintaining timely communication with the Principal Investigators (PIs), clinical partners, FCS Agents, and other community stakeholders on all activities.
Oversee the FCS Agents, clinical partners, and dietetic interns delivering the program in each county.
Oversee managing, tracking, and reporting participant referrals, program enrollment, and program completion.
Collect and report participant feedback through surveys and focus groups.
Manage purchasing needs (e.g., equipment, supplies, travel) related to the HED program and advising the PIs on expenditures.
Provide oversight to the graduate, undergraduate students, and dietetic interns employed by the project, including but not limited to scheduling, delegating roles, and providing evaluation
Organize and maintaining the team’s Project Management system for the diabetes program, including effective use of the system to track project progress, contacts, and resources.
Lead the diabetes program meetings with FCS Agents and clinical partners, and maintaining detailed notes and record keeping for both programs
Lead public messaging strategies and the publication process of diabetes program outcomes through social media, news articles, technical reports, peer-reviewed journals, and other outlets as determined by the PI team, county-level staff, and the community
Assist in the writing and revising of manuscripts for a professional presentation at the regional, national, and international levels in accordance with grant activities.
