Nutrition Technology Manager- Colorado Department of Education (Denver Metro, CO)

Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Technology Manager to join our team. As the technology subject matter expert, you will oversee the planning, implementation and maintenance of the unit’s technology infrastructure and systems. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the efficiency, security and innovation of our technological operations, directly supporting our strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

-Technology Leadership & Project Management:
-Serve as the primary technology expert for the unit, providing strategic oversight and direction for all technology-related initiatives.
-Identify technology needs, gaps and opportunities.
-Implement comprehensive management plans for technology projects.
-Oversee the implementation and maintenance of unit-wide technology solutions, ensuring they meet the needs of the unit and align with strategic objectives.
-Ensure technology systems align with strategic and quality improvement goals.
-Manage and maintain the School Nutrition Unit's child nutrition program technology system, ensuring it operates smoothly and effectively.
-Prioritize deliverables and collaborate with internal program subject matter experts and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and coordinate user acceptance testing.
-Oversee and support technology grants, ensuring project goals are met and reporting is accurate.

Training & Support:
-Provide expertise, training, and support for technology needs, including software tools like Smartsheets and learning management systems.
-Serve as a contact for school food authority technology vendors to help answer questions regarding regulations.
-Support school food authorities in ensuring technology systems meet state and federal requirements (e.g., household income applications, menu planning, point of service software).
- Provides technical support and assistance to end users and internal staff, troubleshooting hardware and software issues and ensuring timely resolution of technical problems.
-Develops and delivers training to educate internal and external users on new technologies, best practices and child nutrition program system enhancements or changes.
-Analyze functional specifications and design documents working directly with internal program subject matter experts, sponsor organizations, vendor and other stakeholders to ensure software functionality and technical design requirements are met. Ensure level of documentation is appropriate for the need.
-Evaluate business rules and develop test plans for all phases including functional, regression, integration and user acceptance tests.
-Develop assumptions to clarify design and requirements and identify risks of implementing/not implementing tasks/processes.
-Create testing scripts and instructions and coordinate quality assurance efforts with team members.

Vendor & Contract Management:
-Facilitate regular stakeholder meetings to ensure deliverables are met and address gaps and opportunities.
-Keep all stakeholders informed and ensure their needs are addressed.
-Act as the liaison between state agencies and technology vendor; build and maintain positive relationships between the team, vendors and other stakeholders.
-Serve as the subject matter expert for contract requirements.
-Oversee vendor contract ($300,000-$500,000) compliance, performance monitoring, adherence to deliverables and timeline, dispute resolution, documentation, and plan for contract closeout.
-Provide expertise on contract amendments and execute amendments in collaboration with the procurement team.
-Occasional travel within CO for meetings, trainings and conferences or out of state travel for conferences (approximately 5%).
